Madison Pharmacy Associates

Madison Pharmacy Associates co-founder Marla Ahlgrimm has been a pioneer since the late 1970s, when she and a colleague began working to develop treatment options for premenstrual syndrome (PMS). They co-founded Madison Pharmacy Associates, a practice solely devoted to the health needs of women. Today, Ahlgrimm works with some of the same women she helped more than thirty years ago. But today, those patients are experiencing symptoms of perimenopause and menopause. Using natural hormone therapy, Ahlgrimm is able to further the work she began at Madison Pharmacy Associates, restoring health to women who are dealing with hormonal health issues.

Through Madison Pharmacy Associates, Marla Ahlgrimm launched PMS Access, a hotline where women across the country could speak to the experts at Madison Pharmacy Associates, one on one. Ahlgrimm has carried that belief in giving her patients personal attention into her current business, which furthers the work she began with Madison Pharmacy Associates.

While working with Madison Pharmacy Associates, Marla Ahlgrimm co-authored two books: The HRT Solution—Optimizing Your Hormone Potential and Self-Help for Premenstrual Syndrome. She and her colleagues at Madison Pharmacy Associates compounded various natural hormone prescriptions, customizing treatment to each patient. But Ahlgrimm’s attention to detail didn’t end there. From its inception, Madison Pharmacy Associates went beyond what pharmacies normally do, working with both physicians and patients to find the best treatment.

Madison Pharmacy Associates’ Ahlgrimm also founded Women’s Health America, which served the unique and complex health needs of women of all ages by providing access to current and accurate information and quality health products. Because of her work with women’s health, Ahlgrimm has been regularly featured in magazines, newspapers, and television programs across the country. In addition to her media attention, the Madison Pharmacy Associates co-founder is also regularly asked to speak locally and nationally on women’s health topics to both consumer and medical groups.

A 1978 graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Madison Pharmacy Associates’ Marla Ahlgrimm has a B.S. degree in Pharmacy. She has served on the board of directors of several organizations, including the United Way of Dane County and the UW Foundation. A member of the American Pharmacy Association and the Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin, Madison Pharmacy Associates’ Ahlgrimm has also served on the State Task Force on Women and Depression. Among her many awards, the Madison Pharmacy Associates co-founder has most recently been named a distinguished University of Wisconsin alumni and won the “Woman’s First” award from the Fund for Women in 2008.

Madison Pharmacy Associates’ premenstrual syndrome and hormone therapy protocols are now used in medical programs across the country. Madison Pharmacy Associates co-founder Ahlgrimm has also developed unique hormone prescription dosage forms for hormone replacement therapy and specific hormone testing systems for women utilizing saliva and serum. In 2011, Marla Ahlgrimm sold Madison Pharmacy Associates. She is the co-founder and President of Cyclin Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a company that sells proprietary products developed by Marla for the women’s health market as well as ProCycle PMS and ProCycle Gold nutritional supplements.
